S.M.A.R.T. The only organized ticket for next year's SGO
|
|
Students gathered at the Gilligan Student Union Building (GSUB) Cafeteria yesterday at 3pm to meet the candidates for the SGO Spring Election. Students were given the chance to voice their opinions, and the candidates announced their platforms. Uncontested candidate for the presidency, Maurice Washington, lead his ticket into presenting its stated aims to the student body. Vote S.M.A.R.T. stressed the lack of communication between departments, administration, and students - the root of absent involvement from students, and unresolved problems within the university. Candidates assured the student body that they will continue to struggle in joining the broken knot and building a better student-administration relationship.
Present students raised their concerns and gave each candidate two minutes to provide an answer. One of the issues that were brought up is the missing liaison between the student government and evening students. Candidates reassured that every gap will be filled in and linked.
Current SGO president, Marcus Rosado, gave a brief speech acknowledging the runners' courage to take responsibility of serving and representing the 10,000 students of NJCU.
Voting will be held, for the first time, online through GothicNet beginning tomorrow, March 28th until March 29th.
