Dear Representative,

I write to give you a sense of the impact that the proposed budget cuts to higher education will have on our university community and the State of New Jersey. Cuts of this size will not only affect our classrooms, but also the research and service that NJCU provides to the citizens of the state.

I urge you to minimize the size of the cut and its impact on tuition at New Jersey City University. Please consider greater funding for financial aid for students who are most vulnerable to a tuition hike; those receiving Tuition Aid Grants and students in the Educational Opportunity Fund Program.

Additionally I request that students, faculty and staff at NJCU be treated in equitable terms with regard to our fringe benefits and negotiated salary increases.

Investing in Higher Education is a necessity. New Jersey cannot afford more cuts.

Sincerely,
