After an introduction by Dean Tom Robertson, the fireside chat began between Professor Mike Useem and Vikram Pandit, CEO of Citigroup. Pandit first spoke about his experience of being in the eye of a perfect storm amidst the heightened turmoil in the US financial markets. "It is a great time to be in school," he mentioned on a lighter note. To put things into context, Pandit listed the four major causes of the current financial crisis: housing imbalance where supply is greater than demand, consumption-saving imbalance in the US economy, highly levered state of financial systems around the world, and finally the need for growth without causing inflation.

The Powelton Village Civic Association will be presenting design ideas to Drexel regarding the proposal to close Race Street between 33rd and 34th streets, according to Mike Zuckerman, a member of the board of the PVCA.

Gov. Sarah Palin (R-AK) debated Sen. Joseph Biden (D-DE) on Oct. 2 as both politicians sought to be the next Vice President of the United States.
As the debate started out, Gwen Ifill, journalist for PBS and debate moderator, greeted the candidates. Palin broke the silence on stage by saying to the democratic candidate, "Hey, can I call you Joe?"

Wharton senior Jonathan Hayman was implicated in a plan to scam a Connecticut casino on Sept. 20.
Hayman, 21, was charged with sixth-degree larceny after being at a blackjack table at the Mohegan Sun Casino in Uncasville, Conn.
The dealer and one other player at the table were charged with first-degree larceny and allegedly conspired to cheat the casino out of more than $16,000, Connecticut state police said.
